Frenzy Card Challenge!

This challenge at Colourful Creations is the FRENZY CARD CHALLENGE!  I don't usually make cards but had a spare couple of days before the next months challenges were posted so thought I would whip this up.

It wasn't restrictive with colour or design only you are to be inspired by patchwork - and this is what I came up with.  I thought it was a good idea to have card challenges - gets you to make cards on a regular basis then use them for those occasions when you need them.  Colour Combo Galore have a fortnightly Card Challenge too so between the two challenge sites I should have a bucket load of them at the end of the year LOL!

PIONEER FUN!

Unfortunately the weather was against me today so my photo couldnt be taken outside due to rain (and forecast for more this week) but I managed to get this one taken the best I could.  When the weather returns I will upload a better image (the challenge closes on the 30th so had to submit this one asap) - nothing like the last minute!

Anyway, with housekeeping out of the way I enjoyed this challenge at Colourful Creations - White + Kraft!  I found this photo of myself and my husband and thought it was a good one to use for the colours....I used a Martha Stewart border punch, then using eyelets I strung the two pieces together with a thick kraft piping ribbon.  I embossed alot of white paper and fussy cut the flowers & swirls to add to the photo border along with some painted Dusty Attic chippees.  I wanted to use a "dress form" from my resistant canvas embellies (prima) but it looked too 'cream' for the 'white' challenge so I used it as a template and fussy cut on kraft instead.  I enjoyed using misting, paint and ink on this page and starting to experiment even more to get the effects that I want.  I know I am only a beginner with wet mediums but its a start!

These types of challenges really help the imagination go wild with the embellies I have but am still finding the real challenge is in the colour combos - I am hoping to get back to Colour Combos Galore and reach their date line for the next pallette!

Happy Days!

P.S.  I managed to get a photo while the sun was out - Not sure if its a better pic but thought would upload anyways!

CCG & Colourful Creations Challenge

Well as usual I am late submitting this challenge for CCG (suppose to be up by the 21st April) but the main thing is I got a challenge done.  This was a colour/card palette (I missed the deadline for the scrap page) so I decided to combine it with Colourful Creations Tag Challenge.  Here is the colour palette 226 for CCG.

I am still learning to create with colour palettes so had a little help selecting the papers - thanx Fi!  So here is my submission!

Colour Creations Tag Challenge was to create a 'Tag' using a die cut, include a button and the words 'you & me'.  The 'extra' to the challenge is to include it on a scrap page.  The tag challenge needs to be completed by the 30th April - so at least I made it to one challenge deadline LOL!  Not sure if I will make it put on a page by then but may be worth a try!

Pop over to both sites as they have some great challenges for all styles of paper creators!

Have a lovely week - Happy Days!

Wanted to Share

Not only am I new to the world of blogging I am new to all things scrapping, well that is when it comes to online.  Me and a few friends catch up once a week to scrap and I have even been introduced to skype scrapping, I am finding that to fun as I don't have to pack everything I can just work directly from my craft room.

Scrapbooking isn't the only hobby I have although it does take up a big chunk of my free time, I also like to do needle point and since surfing the net and joining up on all sorts of websites I have started to receive some awesome DIY project notifications.  I just wanted to share this one I received this morning, I know the project requires you to  make these in are really large size but I was thinking they could be re sized and made to fit a page.  What do you think???

TODAY ON SCRAP SCENE

These beautiful blooms, believe it or not are made from Crepe paper and wire.  So I thought this weekend I would give it ago and make them for a page.

Well everyone I am off to create, I am really enjoying all the projects over at Colorful Creations so if you looking for something to do this weekend why not come on over and see for yourself.

Colourful Creations - Tag of the Month - VINTAGE TAG

In between pages I decided to join the Colourful Creations Tag event and create a Vintage Tag. The requirements were not restrictive only that it represents vintage - so we could go to town!!! Yippee!

I enjoyed creating this tag as it was 2 weeks since I had done anything in my scrap room (was getting withdrawals) but the tag challenge got the creative juices flowing and this was my result.  I usually get inspiration from a designer called Julie van Oosten - she created elements with her 'Designing Elements' called 'Collections' when it comes to vintage.  She has a few designs that I like but usually mine never turn out anywhere near as fancy as hers LOL!

I used embossing powder on some paper that I used from a border punch and the stamped letter was embossed also.  I fussy cut the flowers, butterfly and leaves and used a walnut stain to distress the tag.  All in all I was happy with the result.

Colorful Creations - Fi's Autumn Palette Challenge

It’s been a busy couple of weeks with kids on school holidays but I managed to get a challenge or two done! I attempted Colourful Creations – Fi’s Autumn Palette where you had to create a page with FIVE colours! It was a challenge and a half (and I think I didn’t get one colour right) but I am happy I attempted it and have done yet another page for the future of my family!

We had to create a page with 5 colours on the palette, confetti (that was fun – try gluing all those pieces down LOL), journaling (naturally), banners & stitching! I love stitching anyways as I do cross stitch projects from time to time so no probs there. I just always have to challenge myself with the colour palette! The banners are under the title, I hand stitched the swirls and my confetti are little hearts cut out from the trusty ole hole punch that has interchangeable shapes! It’s a goldie oldie but was great for this challenge!

I decided to scrap photos of our daughter with her daddy when she was only a few hours old. I journalled ….”A sweet moment captured only hours after Jazz was born”….Newcastle 4am. It was a long day and we were all pretty tired after the birth so it was lovely to see Peter holding Jasmine in a comfy chair that they both fell asleep on – so sweet!

Well off to do the next challenge….

Happy Days!
